I started my (rather) long lacrosse career at the ripe young age of 9, in 1991, yes I can't believe it's been 22 years either. I grew up in Didsbury, Manchester and owe my love and obsession of 'butterfly catching' to a LDO (Lacrosse Development Officer) called Matt.
I played in Manchester for 14 years circling a numbers of clubs and finding northern lacrosse home at Heaton Mersey LC. In 2004 I made the big step to move south of the M60 and set up home in Hitchin, whilst being at Hitchin I've captained the team to two premiership titles and coached at a number of clubs and schools to help build the game.
I first represented Wales at the 2002 World Championships in Perth Australia playing alongside Simo (Paul Simpson, another Wales lacrosse Grandad), and the now Wales head coach Dan Funnell. I have since represented Wales at the Under 19 World Championships in 2003, at the European Championships in 2004 and 2008 and at the World Championships in 2006 and 2010.
There is a good chance that this will be the last time I get to play for my country and I plan to go out on a high (a mile high in fact) and I cannot wait to lead us out onto the field, bring on Denver 2014!
